My son A-Man has never been a great sleeper. We originally just thought that he just hated sleep, but when we learned about his sensory struggles and his autism, we realized that there was a lot more going on with his sleep struggles than we thought. He struggles to relax enough to fall asleep, and once he finally does he wakes up a few times a night. For the most part he stays in his room, but we can hear him talking to himself and singing at all hours of the night. That’s not easy on anyone.
I was given this pillow for free in return for an honest review, and I was compensated for my time. I was not required to give a positive review, and all opinions are 100% my own!
The Music Pillow that Changed Sleep in our House
Thankfully, we found a music pillow that completely changed A-Man’s sleep. The Dreampad from Integrated Learning Systems has been a complete game-changer for our family, so I just had to share it with you! With this pillow my son has started to sleep through the night more evenings than not, and he’s falling asleep a lot easier and faster than he ever has.
What is the Dreampad Pillow?
The Dreampad pillow is a special pillow created by integrated learning systems that softly plays music through gentle vibrations in the pillow. That way only the person using the pillow can hear, but they don’t need to wear uncomfortable headphones! The Dreampad pillow works best with the app from Integrated Learning Systems, which plays music that is specifically designed to help people to relax, de-stress, fall asleep easily, and stay asleep all night. This was really helpful for A-Man, because he can’t tolerate headphones.
As a mom, I also appreciated that the device and cords all zipped up into the pillow. It didn’t leave any uncomfortable bumps, and it didn’t leave my son playing with the phone all night when he was supposed to be sleeping!
How it Helps Disabled Children Sleep
The Dreampad pillow was originally developed to help children with anxiety and other sleep struggles to relax enough at bedtime to fall asleep. If you have a child with autism, SPD, ADHD, or anxiety, you know how hard it can be to help their brains and bodies settle down enough to rest. Between the Dreampad pillow and A-Man’s weighted blanket, he is better able to settle his brain and his body together in order to easily fall asleep. It’s made a world of difference in our house, which brings me to….
Better Sleep for A-Man, Better Sleep for Everyone!
I don’t know how it works at your house, but in this house if A-Man doesn’t sleep well, no one really sleeps well. When he wakes up in the middle of the night, he really struggles to fall back asleep. That means that he gets bored, and then he starts to be loud. Not loud like, tossing and turning and sighing, but loud like he decides that the only possible thing to do is sing “The Wheels on the Bus” at the top of his lungs. Or kick the wall repeatedly. Or really do anything he can to keep himself busy. This doesn’t work so well when he shares a room! Since using the Dreampad pillow, not only is A-Man sleeping better, but Baby M and Mr. C are waking up less often as well! It’s completely changed sleep in our home, and I couldn’t be happier.
