My kids’ developmental milestones have been all over the map. In fact, A-Man and Baby M’s therapists teased me that Miss S isn’t only my first girl, but she’s also my first neurotypical child. I’ve noticed as she’s been growing up and working towards her developmental milestones I’ve been more proactive about giving her targeted activities that help her practice and master her milestones.
Super Simple Baby Activities That Boost Development
The Importance of Developmental Milestones
You might think that I’m just being one of those moms who’s convinced that having her baby listen to Mozart will make them a super genius. I pinky promise, I’m not.
The fact is, developmental milestones are really important, and they’re especially important for babies! Out of my four kids, one developed way ahead of schedule, one developed typically until 18 months and then regressed, one has an extreme developmental delay, and one, Miss S, is developing pretty typically (so far).
With all of my past parenting experiences, I’ve been more determined than ever to provide development-boosting activities for the kids’ different developmental stages. Giving your kids developmentally appropriate activities helps them reach their critical development milestones on their perfect time schedule.
Why Babies Need Development Boosting Activities
In an ideal world, babies would naturally develop on a perfect timeline all on their own without any help. That’s what used to happen hundreds of years ago. Now? Now babies are carried around in big bucket car seats, they’re put into swings and bouncers and even bumbo chairs, and their natural development can be disrupted.
That’s why it’s so important now to actively encourage your child’s natural development. You don’t want to push milestones that they aren’t ready for, of course. But keep an eye on what milestones are coming up and your little one is working on, and find some activities to help them practice and master their new skill.
Fun and Simple Development Boosting Activities for Babies
We were so excited to try these awesome development-boosting toys from Little Tikes! I loved that the toys gave concrete developmental milestones that each toy helped with, and a few different activities that you can do with your child!
Miss S had so much fun exploring her new toys, and I can relax knowing that I’m doing my part in helping her reach her developmental milestones in her own perfect timing.
